In a luxurious Ferrari, Maserati, or Audi, it only makes sense to want to go, go, go on the roads in Norwood and see what your vehicle is truly capable of. And the capability sure is a lot. But at some point, you'll have to stop. When you have to apply the brakes, it's good to know they're up for the challenge. Our last post was about when to replace your tires, now we'd like to offer some signs that drivers in Boston, Quincy, Newton, and Brookline may need some brake work:
- Brake pads: Are your brake pads wearing down? They should be at least a quarter of an inch thick. If not, you'll need new ones.
- Grinding: This sound usually means that your caliper is scratching the rotor because your pads have totally worn down.
- Screeching: Loud and consistent screeching while braking is a tell-tale sign that it's time to get your brakes looked at.
- Soft pedal: If your brakes are less responsive and it takes extra pressure on the pedal to get your vehicle to stop, you may need to get your brakes looked at.
